Community Action Council

Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison, and Nicholas Counties, like other community action agencies across the United States, works to address the causes and conditions of poverty locally. The Council’s fundamental belief is that all people in the community are connected. If the challenges faced by low-income people are addressed and they have the same opportunities enjoyed by the majority of the community, then the quality of life for the entire community is improved.

Community Action Council is dedicated to combating poverty by offering opportunities for low-income people to achieve self-sufficiency and providing services so that each community member and family is able to reach their full potential. The Council works to serve the low-income population through advocacy, service delivery and community involvement.

The Poverty Forum
Spotlighting The Power Of Human Possibility

The Council feels that educating the community on poverty and making them aware of the growing needs of our low-income neighbors will engage them in joining the fight within their community. The Poverty Forum is designed to educate the community concerning poverty on a local level and spotlight the human possibilities within our community to truly make a difference. As a partner in this event you can be a part of this effort in revealing the power of human possibilities.

It is the Council’s fundamental belief that all people in the community are connected. If challenges faced by the low-income population are addressed then the quality of life for the entire community is improved. The proceeds raised by The Poverty Forum will go toward the Council’s general fund used to support programs with the greatest need such as the Self-Sufficiency Fund, Energy Assistance, Weatherization, and Child Development Programs.
